We are looking for a Bakery Production Manager to lead for our team of bakers, and collaborate with the sales and shipping departments, to fulfill orders and deliver premium quality products on time.

Position Summary:

The Bakery Production Manager rotates throughout several tasks to supervise the production and sales of our products while adhering to food safety and quality procedures. Essential functions and responsibilities of the position may vary based on business needs.


Primary Responsibilities:


PRODUCTION

  • Coordinate with the sales & shipping teams and retail liaison to asses purchase orders and inventory levels
  • Prepare weekly production plan to meet order requirements and maintain par levels
  • Take weekly inventory of ingredients and place food orders to ensure bakery is well-stocked and capable of meeting the production plan
  • Communicate production plan to bakers and assist new employees as needed so production does not fall behind
  • Ensure all equipment is working properly before each use and inspect after each cleaning
  • Conduct quality inspections to ensure the quality of product delivered adheres to company specs
  • Collaborate with Director of Operations and retail GMs to discuss possible improvements to quality and logistics on both sides

MANAGE

  • Work with the Director of Operations and HR to determine staffing needs
  • Assist HR in developing a comprehensive training program for new employees
  • Demonstrate production safety procedures and proper sanitation processes and monitor kitchen to ensure these procedures are followed
  • Prepare schedules for bakery staff
  • Be a leader for effective time management and productivity
  • Partner with Assistant Production Manager to supervise all shifts at the bakery
  • Work alongside the team and provide ongoing training to help bakers hone their skills
  • Consult with HR to address staff concerns and issues
  • Organize and maintain the bakery and all equipment
  • Ensure daily cleaning and sanitizing of the bakery is complete
  • Work with HR to ensure staff is fully trained in regulatory and compliance procedures
  • Provide ongoing feedback to support staff development
  • Facilitate a positive work environment and foster open communication
  • Work with employees to resolve conflict and integrate HR when necessary
  • Collaborate with Director of Operations and HR on disciplinary matters
  • Consistently apply company procedures per the employee handbook and company policies
  • Ensure safety regulations, policies, and procedures are followed
  • Practice effective communication during shift changes
  • Be mindful of all employees’ work hours to prevent unnecessary overtime
  • Monitor employee performance and evaluate the need for additional training
  • Participate in manager meetings and hold bakery team meetings
  • Provide continual feedback and conduct performance reviews

FOOD SAFETY AND COMPLIANCE

  • Work with HR to maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations
  • Prepare and maintain all compliance records, including receiving logs, cleaning records and lot codes
  • Supervise staff to make sure all procedures are being followed routinely
  • Lead by example to enforce rules, regulations, and company policy among bakery staff
  • Ensure compliance with HACCP and other FDA requirements

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Must enjoy a fast-paced environment
  • Requires frequent lifting of up to 50 lbs
  • Requires frequent bending, stooping, and twisting
  • Most duties are performed while standing
  • Requires repetitive motion with hands and arms
  • Exposure to various temperature changes

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a supervisory or managerial role in bakery production
  • Strong working knowledge of bakery ingredients and formulas
  • Ability to understand the proper procedures during production
  • General math skills
  • Clear understanding of the food industry
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven leadership abilities
  • Flexibility to work around order demands, including extended and weekend hours during peak seasons
