  • • Zest of a lemon, for filling
  • • Juice of half a lemon, for filling
  • This Strawberry Galette is the perfect way to use those strawberries we all have sitting in our fridge and make them into a sweet, juicy strawberry filling and pair it with a flaky, golden crust. Made with our Shortcake Biscuit Mix, fresh strawberries, lemon zest, and a little turbinado sugar, this galette is a perfect hosting dessert or a cure to an aching sweet tooth. Finish it with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, and you’ve got yourself one sweet Southern treat!

    Instructions:

    1. Preheat the oven to 375°F.
    2. Prepare the Shortcake Biscuit Mix according to the package directions, using the salted butter, whole milk, turbinado sugar and vanilla extract.
    3. Once the dough comes together, gently shape it into a square and place it in the refrigerator to chill for 5 minutes. Take the dough out of the fridge.
    4. Spoon the strawberry filling into the center of the dough, leaving a few inches around the edges.
    5. Gently fold the edges of the dough over the edge of the strawberries, creating a galette shape.
    6. Pour remaining juices from the macerated strawberry filling into the galette.
    7. Melt the remaining butter and brush it over the exposed dough.
    8. Sprinkle some turbinado sugar over the buttered crust.
    9. Bake the galette at 375°F for 30–40 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the strawberry filling is bubbly.
    10. Remove the galette from the oven and let it cool for about 10 minutes.
    11. Slice and serve, and enjoy!

    Shortcake Biscuit Mix

    Hot Little Tip

Any fruit will do! Buttermilk Biscuit Mix is a substitute if you don't have the Shortcake Biscuit Mix. Dough will be crumbly and can be imperfect, but no one is perfect!
