It’s the kind of recipe that lets you spend less time cooking and more time gathered around the table with family and friends. Baked until golden and customizable for butter lovers, fruit fans, and nut enthusiasts alike, this French toast bake is destined to become a Christmas morning favorite.

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400ºF. Grease a casserole dish and place the dish on a baking sheet to catch any potential overflow.

  2. Unwrap the thawed biscuits from their vacuum seal bags. Slice the biscuits into small, bite size cubes about one inch thick. Set aside for assembly.

  3. In a large mixing bowl, add melted butter, eggs, milk, vanilla, white sugar, and brown sugar. Whisk until fully combined. If desired, buttermilk biscuits can be used in place of cinnamon biscuits. If using buttermilk biscuits, add ground cinnamon to egg mixture to taste.

  4. Add biscuit pieces into your prepped casserole dish. Make sure to nestle in and evenly spread the pieces out to cover the whole dish. Then, carefully pour over the egg mixture into the dish. Be sure to pour in multiple places to ensure no dry pockets. All of the egg mixture may not be used; do not fill higher than a quarter inch away from the top of the dish.

  5. Cover the casserole with foil and bake for about 40 minutes while covered. Remove foil and continue baking for another 5 to 10 minutes until top is golden brown and egg mixture is fully set.

  6. To serve, top with your favorite additions to French Toast, or keep it plain and allow your guests to dress their own! Enjoy!
