Ingredients
- Frozen White Bread
- Butter
- Pimento Cheese
- Fresh, chopped herbs
- Crushed Potato Chips
Accoutrements:
If you attend any southern soirée, you're likely to find a tea sandwich on the menu. I love making these simple sandwiches at home, and they've become a staple on our Callie's Hot Little Biscuit catering menu. Whether you are making traditional PB&J, pimento cheese, or ham and cheese, or cucumber dill-icious tea sandwiches, there are a few tips and tricks to elevating your sandwich, especially your pimento cheese tea sandwich.
Elevate Your Pimento Cheese Tea Sandwiches
- Start with frozen white bread. Freezing your bread will keep the integrity of the bread and will create a surface optimal for spreading your center ingredients.
- Coat both sides of your bread with a thin layer of butter. This creates a barrier between the center ingredients and your bread, helping the sandwich stay intact.
- Generously add Callie's Hot Little Biscuit Traditional or Fiery Pimento Cheese to one side of the bread. Top with your second slice, cut the crusts off the bread, and cut your sandwiches in half (rectangles or triangles work best!).
- Last, coat the sides of the pimento cheese sandwiches with your favorite accoutrements like fresh herbs (I used chives and green onions in the video below) or crushed potato chips!
