Cinnamon Apple Delights

Ingredients

  • • Callie's Hot Little Biscuit Shortcake Mix
  • • 3 apples, peeled, cored and chopped into 1/2” cubes
  • • Whipped Cinnamon Butter (Ingredients below)
  • • Cinnamon Whipped Cream (Ingredients below)
  • • Caramel Sauce (Ingredients below)

What happens when you combine an apple pie with tender, fluffy Southern biscuits? You get my Cinnamon Apple Delights! A sweet, cinnamon biscuit (or shortcake, if you so choose) stuffed with caramelized, baked apple filling and topped with cinnamon whipped cream and drizzled with caramel sauce.

This sweet treat is the perfect dessert for fall evenings or as an addition to your slow weekend mornings. Taste the warmth of the season with the delectable cinnamon and caramel flavors, and we won't blame you when you end up loving this even more than apple pie!

Cinnamon Apple Delights

Instructions

Caramelized Apple Filling

Ingredients:

  • 3 apples, peeled, cored and chopped into 1/2” cubes
  • Whipped cinnamon butter

Instructions:

  1. Toss the apples and cinnamon butter together, and spread in an even layer in a baking dish.
  2. Bake at 350 for 10-15 minutes. Keep in the warming oven to serve.

Cinnamon Butter

Ingredients:

  • 8 tablespoons butter softened
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons white sugar
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar

Instructions

  1. Whip in a mixer or by hand until light and fluffy.

Cinnamon Whipped Cream

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • ½ cup white sugar
  • 1 ½ tablespoons cinnamon

Instructions:

  1. Whip everything together until it forms stiff peaks.

Caramel Sauce

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoons butter
  • 1 tablespoon cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • A pinch of salt

Instructions:

  1. Melt butter in a pan over low heat, mix in the remainder of ingredients and whisk until combined and bubbling.

Instructions to Serve: 

Option 1: Scoop baked apples into warm Cinnamon Biscuits, drizzle with Caramel, and top with Cinnamon Whipped Cream.

Option 2: Make Shortcake Biscuits according to package instructions and then tuck Baked Apples inside each shortcake. Drizzle with Caramel Sauce and top with Cinnamon Whipped Cream.
